Everything You Need to Know and Have to Organize and Run a Blind Wine Tasting Party (with Style)

Wait... What is this??

Have you ever been at a blind wine tasting party?

If yes, move down to the next paragraph. If not, read on:

A blind wine tasting party is like a game show for your taste buds—without the flashy lights, but with all the fun! It is a wine tasting but no one knows what’s in each bottle! You’ll sip, swirl, and sniff your way through reds, whites, all the while trying to match what you are drinking to the provided wine descriptions. It’s hilarious, educational, and a little bit competitive—plus, you'll probably end up pretending to be a sommelier by the end. Spoiler: nobody has any idea what they're doing, and that's what makes it awesome!

Ok, I'm intrigued, but why do I need this party guide?

Can't I just google my way into this myself?

Short answer, yes, you can!

You will have to get a list of what is needed, a guide on how to run the blind tasting, a guide on how to analyze wine, a score card and, most importantly, a blind tasting-friendly description for each one of the wines you will be serving... for a tech savvy wine connoisseur it might take a 2-3 hours to get all this info organized. For anyone else, double or triple that... or, you can purchase all this info (see below) for just $20  and a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee (if you are not satisfied, we refund your money, no questions asked).

If you buy the Blind Wine Tasting Party Guide, what do you get?

  1. The "Wine blind tasting party guide" document, includes which wines to buy and where to buy them
  2. The "How to taste and analyze wine" document, includes score card
  3. The "Wine descriptions for wines you can buy at Costco" document
  4. The "Wine descriptions for wines you can buy on this site" document

Here is an excerpt of the "Wine blind tasting party guide":

Getting Organized
Ready to host a wine tasting so good it could make a sommelier blush? Here’s your game plan!

  • Wine Glasses: You’ll need enough glasses for each guest. In theory, that’s the number of guests multiplied by the number of wines you’re tasting. So, if you have 8 guests and 4 wines, you’ll need 32 glasses. But let’s be real—who owns that many wine glasses? One glass per guest works just fine. Just make sure you have plenty of water to rinse between tastes!
  • Spit Bucket (aka “The Spitoon”): This trusty vessel will serve double duty: a place for guests to rinse their glasses and a haven for those who prefer not to swallow every drop. (You know who you are.)
  • Step-by-Step Analysis Sheets + enough pencils/pens for all: Print out as many copies of the "How to taste and analyze wine" pdf as you have guests. Everyone will need one + a pencil/pen to track their tasting notes—don’t skip this step unless you want chaos on your hands.
  • Wine Descriptions: Print out the descriptions of the wines you’ve chosen (just the pages for the wines you’re actually serving, of course!). No need to waste paper on the other wines—Mother Earth will thank you.
  • Bottle Covering Materials: You’ll need something to keep your guests guessing. Wrapping paper and tape work wonders for covering those bottles. Bonus: it adds an extra layer of mystery (and class).
  • Bottle Opener: Yes, we know, but sometimes we all need a gentle reminder.
  • White Paper for Analyzing Color: A couple of sheets of plain white paper will do wonders when it’s time to analyze the color of the wine. It’s like having a clean canvas for the artistry in your glass.

Procuring the Wines

  • Buy the recommended wines at Costco: Each quarter, we curate a selection of Costco wines that you can grab without breaking a sweat. Just pop by your local Costco and pick up as many bottles as you like—4 or 5 different wines are the usual suspects for a blind tasting.
  • Alternatively, you can buy your wine online by visiting the “Buy Wine” tab on the BlindWineTasting.party and choosing a few from the proposed, hand picked wines.
  • Finally, if you already have chosen your wines or you would like to use wine you already have,  just email the names of these wines to YourWinesDescription@CFGFocaccia.com and we will email you back the wine descriptions (in your email, please make sure to include the order # proving you have purchased the Blind Tasting Guide).
